Job summary

Texas Children’s Pediatrics is seeking a Medical Assistant to join a fast-paced clinical team. You will collect patient data, document vitals, and provide direct patient care under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a Medical Assistant/EMT/LVN program, CPR/BLS, and 1 year of related experience preferred. You will work with physicians, coordinate care, and support immunizations and lab tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant, EMT, or LVN program is required.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required.
• 1 year of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the collection of patient data.
• Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight.
• Documents current medications, allergies and other information in the EHR.
• Provides general patient care and prepares patient for examination.
• Assists provider during treatments, exams and testing.
• Coordinates patient care by following up on lab results and referrals.
• Administers medication and immunizations.
• Documents administration of medications and immunizations in the medical record.
• Maintains infection control and inventory control guidelines for medication supplies.
• Provides patient education and documents education in the EHR.
• Coordinates referrals and verifies eligibility with payer prior to initiating referrals.
• Collects specimens and performs laboratory tests; documents results.
• Performs quality control, instrument maintenance, and calibration procedures.
• Notifies provider of lab results and any discrepancies; adheres to safety standards.
• Respiratory fit testing may be required as part of occupational health standards.
