Job summary

Children’s Mercy KC is seeking Intermediate Care Registered Nurses to provide advanced illness management and high-acuity care for patients and families. The role emphasizes nursing process, patient education, and advocacy within a safe, family-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree ADN required; BSN preferred for hires after Sept 1, 2013; licensure required at hire; if BSN not held, degree must be completed within 5 years.
• Licensure: MO or KS RN license; RN compact license acceptable.
• Life Support Certifications required upon hire.
• Specialty certification relevant to unit’s patient population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality plan of care for high acuity patients and families.
• Meets educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
• Maintains a safe, comfortable, efficient, family-centered environment.
• Utilizes current research and evidence to improve nursing care quality.
