Job summary

Children's Mercy Kansas City is seeking an Intermediate Care Registered Nurse to provide advanced illness management and family-centered care for high acuity patients. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient education, and collaboration with the care team.

The position requires ADN, with BSN preferred for newer hires; MO/KS RN licensure or multistate/compact license upon hire, plus Life Support certifications.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN preferred for hires after 2013, must complete within 5 years.
• RN license in MO/KS or Multistate/Compact license required upon hire.
• Life Support Certifications required upon hire; specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the high acuity patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
• Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
• Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered
• Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality

Education

Associate's Degree ADN

Bachelor's Degree Preferred (BSN)

RN Licensure: MO, KS, or Multistate/Compact

Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Specialty Certification relevant to unit
