Job summary

Children’s Mercy Kansas City in Kansas City, MO is recruiting an Intermediate Care Registered Nurse to provide advanced illness management and family-centered care for high-acuity patients in hematology/oncology. This role emphasizes compassionate patient education, safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, meeting patient and family needs, and delivering evidence-based care in a fast-paced unit. This on-site position supports the hospital’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred for hires after Sept 1, 2013.
• RN multistate license KS or MO; or RN Compact license for all states except KS/MO; must obtain KS/MO license within 90 days of hire.
• Life Support Certifications required upon hire; specialty certification relevant to unit preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive plan of care for high acuity patients and families.
• Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
• Maintains a safe, comfortable, efficient, family-centered environment.
• Uses current research to expand knowledge and improve nursing care quality.
