Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our pediatric/NICU care teams on variable/rotating shifts. You will provide safe, patient-centered nursing care and communicate clearly with patients, families and co‑workers, following Mercy’s policies and standards to support excellent outcomes.

Responsibilities include assessing and planning care, delivering interventions, documenting in real time, educating families, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as required by American Heart Association.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse / Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• PALS certification required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
• Previous RN experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate accurate information at handoffs to ensure the best patient outcomes.
• Assess, plan, intervene, coordinate and evaluate based on care plans.
• Provide patient-centered nursing care and safety practices.
• Document nursing care in real time per hospital policy.
• Delegate to licensed and non-licensed staff as assigned.
• Educate patients and families and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice and protocols.
• Support pediatric, NICU and Birthplace care as applicable.
