Job summary

Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit/ Pediatric Special Procedures on a full-time night shift.

The RN will assess patients, plan and implement care, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest level of critical care. A NYS RN license is required, with BSN preferred and pediatric acute care experience recommended.

Qualifications

• Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute care experience.
• Previous hospital pediatric acute care experience; PALs, BLS, TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care with other health disciplines.
• Develop a written individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Administer direct care and medications as needed.
• Practice infection control and maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge RN/Clinician.
• Maintain and update the written plan of care and patient/family teaching records.

Education

New York State RN license (or eligible)
