Job summary

MU Health Care's Pediatrics ICU is seeking a Care Team Associate to support nursing staff. This on-site role involves patient assistance, routine medical checks, and rapid response to patient needs in a busy 28-bed unit with capacity for more.

You will work 3 12-hour shifts weekly, including every other weekend and rotating holidays. Responsibilities include patient transfer assistance, vital signs, lab specimen handling, and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in nursing education program or completion of Fundamentals of Nursing within 90 days.
• CNA certification or exam registration.
• PCT certification proof.
• Direct patient care experience in the past 3 years as CNA/EMT/Surgical technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing/ancillary staff in transferring patients and handling meals.
• Organize workload and manage multiple tasks with prompt answering of unit telephones and message delivery.
• Educate and train new staff members in Care Team Associate responsibilities.
• Perform duties in routine and emergent situations as delegated by nursing staff and unit management.
• Perform patient position changes, dressing changes, glucose checks, lab specimen delivery, and venipuncture as needed.
• Enter information into bed-management system accurately and timely.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and document vitals as directed.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined.

Education

Nursing program enrollment or completion within 90 days

CNA certification or exam registration

PCT certification

Direct patient care experience (CNA/EMT/Surgical tech) in last 3 years

UAP training with 100 hours

Nursing licensure candidate not yet licensed

Nursing program completed outside the US awaiting licensure
