Job summary

Children's National Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the pediatric care team in a busy unit in Washington, DC. You will perform basic nursing tasks under RN supervision, maintain a safe, clean patient environment, and help direct patient flow while engaging with patients and families.

The role requires a CNA/EMT/CPCT certification and BLS, with prior pediatric healthcare exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year in a healthcare setting in pediatrics preferred.
• 1 semester clinical experience completed at an accredited school of nursing or military corpsman training preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or CPCT required.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Attend basic nursing care activities under RN supervision.
• Assist with safe, clean, stocked patient care setting.
• Orient families to call lights, monitors and unit procedures.
• Record vital signs and basic measurements as directed.
• Support patient flow and daily living activities per RN instructions.
• Participate in infection control and safe patient handling.
