Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking a part-time Unit Support Associate for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct 1:1 observation of patients and assist in maintaining safety and the unit’s operations.

Responsibilities include helping with daily living activities, stocking supplies, ensuring a calm, clean environment, and communicating with the care team to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills preferred; knowledge of child development preferred.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environmental safety through room sweep and checklist.
• Never leave patient unattended; provide 1:1 observation as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living including washing, toileting, position changes and meals.
• Assist with linen changes and room stocking; keep unit clean and organized.
• Communicate with RN and other staff to establish priorities and relay patient information.
• Stock unit, nurse servers, carts, and other supplies as directed; monitor common areas for cleanliness and par levels.
• Report safety hazards and assist in various unit support activities as directed by Charge Nurse.
