Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Nursing Float Pool in Illinois. The role is full-time, 36 hours per week, self-scheduled with night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and every third weekend with rotating holidays.

The position supports patient care across units with 0.9 FTE and requires BLS and an active RN license. Opportunities include involvement in unit councils, quality initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Active RN license with privileges where services are provided.
• BLS certification required; additional certifications may be required by specialty.
• Typically 1 year of clinical nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Engage in governance, quality initiatives, and evidence-based care improvements.
• Use nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care with patient/family involvement.
• Monitor patient conditions, adjust plans, and coordinate resources with the care team.
• Uphold a culture of safety and maintain accurate EHR documentation.
• Communicate effectively, provide feedback, and delegate appropriately within the team.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain required certifications.
• Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics and practice in ethical, interdisciplinary patient care.
• Appropriately delegate to RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed personnel as needed.
