Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Emergency Registered Nurse (Full Time - Nights) to provide direct and individualized care to patients with urgent and emergent conditions. You will work with physicians, APRs, and multidisciplinary teams to stabilize patients and coordinate care per hospital standards.

Requirements include DC RN License, BSN preferred, BLS and ACLS, and ED experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• DC RN License required.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, emergencies.
• Prioritize care based on acuity using triage principles and ED standards.
• Administer meds, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately.
• Monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
• Initiate emergency interventions for trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological conditions.
• Operate emergency equipment: cardiac monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, infusion pumps.
• Collaborate with physicians, EMS, and teams to coordinate care plans.
• Assist with procedures like intubation, sedation, trauma resuscitation, and code response.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation.
• Ensure infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement, meetings, and continuing education.
• Serve as patient advocate delivering compassionate, culturally competent care.
