Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Per Diem Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant to provide medical services under physician supervision. The PA will perform H&Ps, order and interpret tests, and manage medical/surgical conditions using evidence-based care.

Responsibilities include safe prescribing, patient education, and active participation in rounds and QA initiatives. Requires AMA-accredited PA training, current PA license, NCCPA certification, and BLS; ACLS is also required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
• Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant License and NCCPA certification.
• BLS certification; ACLS certification may be required or preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with standard software platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, per PA training.
• Document accurate history and physicals appropriate for patient age and condition.
• Order, perform, and interpret lab tests and diagnostics with physician collaboration.
• Manage general medical/surgical conditions using evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications safely per hospital policy and NJ regulations.
• Promote PA practice recognition through conferences, publications, and presentations.
• Deliver patient- and family-centered care with compassionate, effective treatment.
• Adhere to Medical Staff bylaws and delineation of privileges; ensure ethical care.
• Engage in interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate care and improve outcomes.
• Participate in clinical research and disseminate findings through education.
