Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily clinical operational activities of the unit to deliver family-centered care efficiently.
• Manages patient throughput: admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily rounding on patients and families.
• Oversees staffing processes: assigns staff to match patient needs and staff competencies.
• Monitors unit environment: ensures supplies, equipment, information, and resources are available for safe care.
• Documents scheduling, occurrence reports, patient/family concerns, and quality indicators in real time.
• Provides a report to the oncoming Nursing Services Supervisor with throughput, staffing, environment, schedules, and quality indicators.
• Demonstrates clinical leadership with nursing and interdisciplinary teams in planning and evaluating age-appropriate care.
• Leads department performance improvement projects and risk reduction initiatives.
• Ensures adherence to policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
• Mentors staff to operationalize ANA Code of Ethics in daily practice and teaching activities.
