Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a registered nurse to provide direct professional nursing care across the episode of service for a defined patient population within our behavioral health unit.

Under supervision, you will apply nursing process, collaborate with the healthcare team, educate families, and ensure documentation meets standards. A BSN is preferred and CT RN licensure is required, with PALS and crisis intervention training to be completed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• ASN required upon hire; BSN preferred and must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in pediatrics and/or behavioral health setting preferred.
• Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse Licensure required or nurse licensure compact (NLC) and maintained thereafter.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire into position, or before completion of orientation if this is longer than 6 months and maintained thereafter.
• Crisis Intervention training certification required within 3 months of hire and maintained current at all times.

Responsibilities

• POPULATION SPECIFIC- Apply behavioral health knowledge to practice with diverse patient groups.
• UNIT LEADERSHIP- Support teamwork, mentor staff, and assist productivity and resource management.
• DOCUMENTATION/COMMUNICATION- Complete timely documentation and communicate with care team.
• PATIENT/FAMILY PARTNERSHIP & EDUCATION- Educate patients and families about care plans.
• CONNECTICUT CHILDRENS STANDARDS- Demonstrate mission and values in practice.
• POSTITION SPECIFIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Foster teamwork and understand medico-legal implications of evidence handling.
