Job summary

Connecticut Children’s Emergency Department in Hartford is seeking an ED Behavioral Health Nurse for 36 hours per week on the evening shift. You will provide direct professional nursing care to pediatric patients, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and support families during behavioral health episodes in a Level 1 pediatric trauma center.

Under supervision, you’ll apply nursing process, document diligently, educate families, and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• ASN required; BSN preferred within 3 years.
• Minimum two years in pediatrics and/or behavioral health setting.
• Current State of Connecticut RN licensure; BLS/CPR required; PALS within 6 months.
• Crisis Intervention training required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct professional nursing care for defined patient populations.
• Apply nursing process to ensure safe, effective care per policies.
• Address behavioral health needs and apply evidence-based interventions.
• Document timely and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Partner with patients and families for outcomes; provide education.
• Support unit leadership and maintain safety.
• Serve as nurse for patients with behavioral health concerns.
