Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role requires compassionate, effective communication, and a commitment to patient safety in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Preferred candidates hold CNA certification with BLS and CPI training to be completed within 30 days of hire. This position requires flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, and adherence to all hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification is required.
• BLS from American Heart Association must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• CPI training must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
