Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant I reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager within MUSC Community Physicians (MCP). Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CMA I performs multi-skilled activities to support patient-centered care and achieve desired outcomes in a pediatric outpatient setting.

Position is hourly with a 40-hour work week at the Beaufort clinic. Responsibilities include assisting in exams, taking vital signs, venipuncture, vaccines, and maintaining immunization records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
• One year of patient care experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Certification through AMT/AAMA/NHA/MedCA as CCMA/CMA/NAHP/NCCT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment of pediatric patients under physician supervision.
• Measure and record vital signs and document in the medical record.
• Perform venipuncture and input lab results into the medical record.
• Administer vaccines to pediatric patients and maintain immunization records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for examinations and ensure patient comfort and safety.
