Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant at MUSC Health reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CMA performs multi-skilled activities to support patient-centered care, assists in examinations, and records vital signs and other health information in the patient’s medical record.

Responsibilities include preparing treatment rooms and aiding in procedures, with a focus on accurate data entry and efficient workflow in a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with six months CMA/RMA experience required.
• Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA as CCMA/CMA/NCCT/NAHP required.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and input data into the medical record.
• Assist in examination and treatment under physician direction.
• Prepare treatment rooms and support decentralized, patient-centered care.
