Job summary

Associates in Pediatric Therapy (APT) is hiring a Patient Coordinator to welcome families, manage front desk duties, and coordinate with physicians and therapists. You will maintain EMR records, verify insurance information, and assist with scheduling and payments in a pediatric setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in a medical office.
• Demeanor and compassion to work with pediatric patients with special needs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Prior EMR experience is helpful.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors in person and on the telephone, answering inquiries or referring to other staff.
• Obtain initial prescription from referring physician’s office for patient’s treatment, update EMR chart with prescription and expiration date.
• Obtain initial authorization from insurance provider for patient’s treatment, update EMR chart with authorization form and expiration date.
• Schedule appointments for new and existing patients in the EMR, ensure all paperwork and insurance information is current.
• Coordinate communication with APT staff, referring physicians, and therapists to meet patient needs.
• Assist patients checking in for appointments using the kiosk when necessary.
• Collect co-pays for current visit or balances from prior visits.
