Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Behavioral Health Assistant to provide developmentally appropriate supervision and psychosocial support. The role includes crisis management, trauma-informed care, and behavior modification to help patients achieve treatment goals.

You will collaborate with physicians, RNs, social workers, and a treatment team; facilitate groups; mentor volunteers; and maintain a safe, confidential environment focused on patient well-being and family involvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years in a behavioral health related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Sociology, or related field preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• At least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, RNs, Social Workers in decision-making and information sharing.
• Provide continuous therapeutic care and observation during daily routines to support treatment outcomes.
• Educate parents on behavioral/emotional techniques and support.
• Implement behavior management protocols safely and therapeutically.
• Respond to crisis situations to ensure safety of patients and others.
• Lead and participate in group skills-based activities and transport patients as needed.
• Document patient progress and incidents in the charting system.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to care planning.
