Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a part-time Nurse Crisis Specialist to support pediatric behavioral health in a hospital setting. You will respond to behavioral crisis events, provide direct patient care, and work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care for patients in inpatient units and the Pediatric Emergency Department.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, prevention, and education for families and staff, with shift coverage during 7pm–7am, 24 hours

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of pediatric clinical experience, preferably in an emergency or acute care setting.
• Minimum of two years of psychiatric or behavioral health experience in a medical setting.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, management, and treatment planning for patients with behavioral and mental health needs by responding to behavioral crisis events.
• Lead crisis response effort debriefs following behavioral emergencies.
• Educate care teams regarding behavioral health diagnoses and interventions.
• Collaborate with medical teams to ensure stabilization and treatment according to scope of practice and training.
