Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for the Adult Emergency Department. The role focuses on coordinating patient observation resources, assisting with intake and belongings management, and supporting timely care decisions within a collaborative care team.

As a key resource for safety and efficient patient flow, you will liaise with nurses, providers, and assessment specialists, facilitate communication, and help with referrals and disposition activities

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating 1:1 observation in an ED setting.
• Knowledge of patient intake, belongings handling, and transfer processes.
• Ability to coordinate interdisciplinary communication and plan-of-care updates.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate and oversee 1:1 observation assignments in Adult ED.
• Monitor sitter coverage to ensure safety requirements.
• Coordinate sitter break schedules to maintain observation.
• Assist with behavioral health patient intake per department protocols.
• Assist with collection, documentation, and secure storage of patient belongings.
• Serve as liaison between nursing, providers, assessment specialists, and ancillary team members.
• Communicate plan-of-care updates to the primary nurse and provider.
• Facilitate information exchange among interdisciplinary team members to support timely patient care decisions.
• Assist in tracking patients through their behavioral health care in the ED.
• Assist in referrals to outside behavioral health facilities and community resources as needed.
• Facilitate communication with receiving facilities regarding patient placement and transfer requirements.
• Assist in gathering and organizing required documentation to support referral and transfer processes.
• Track referral status and provide updates to the interdisciplinary team.
