Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain SBEC paraprofessional certificate
• Must obtain a national criminal background check through SBEC within 30 days of hire
• Ability to communicate, listen, read, write, and comprehend English effectively

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in selecting, planning, organizing and evaluating instructional materials for a balanced health-physical education curriculum
• Participate in staff development and apply learned strategies
• Implement TEKS for Health-Physical Education
• Assist with individual students, small groups and whole class as needed
• Reinforce skills and units taught by the teacher
• Assist with testing and scoring objective measures
• Work with at-risk students on a one-to-one basis as needed
• Incorporate discipline strategies and focus on social skills development
• Attendance at the work site to meet essential functions
