Job summary

The Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide care to patients under the direction of physicians or nursing staff. This Full Time position (FTE 0.9) offers diverse clinical exposure.

Essential qualifications include basic certifications (MA/CNA/PCT/EMT/HHA in Kansas or nursing school), BLS/CPR, and solid communication. Benefits include parental leave, tuition reimbursement, PTO, and health coverage.

Qualifications

• Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in Kansas or on-going nursing studies.
• Current BLS/CPR before patient care activities.
• On-the-job training for sterile technique and obstetrics/surgery handling; EKG and phlebotomy training.

Responsibilities

• Provide care under physician or nursing staff.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation per policy.
• Care for patients from newborn to geriatric.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

People Management Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required Education and Experience Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas OR at least one semester of Nursing School.
• Required License/Certifications/Registrations Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery).
• Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred Education and Experience Previous exposure to a medical environment.
• Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations Certification as a MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas.
• Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills.
• Moderate computer skills required for Telesitter.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Possess compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy Work: Occasionally exerting greater than 100 lbs - constantly exerting up to 50 lbs. 75-100% of the day may be standing or walking.
