Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide compassionate, supervised patient care under physicians and nursing staff. You will document care accurately, follow unit policies, and support patients from newborn to geriatric while upholding HIPAA and hospital values.

Requirements include KS certification as MA/CNA/PCT/EMT or nursing school exposure plus current BLS/CPR.

Qualifications

• Certification as MA/CNA/PCT/EMT or HHA in Kansas or nursing school exposure.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• On-the-job training for sterile technique and obstetric/surgical prep completed.
• On-the-job EKG and phlebotomy training completed in Emergency.

Responsibilities

• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per policy.
• Demonstrate skills to provide patient care per unit/department policies.
• Provide care to patients from newborn through geriatric as directed.
• Act in accordance with mission, vision and values.
• Abide by PHI privacy and security regulations (HIPAA).
• Maintain effective communication with patients, families, teams, and physicians.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required Education and Experience Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas OR at least one semester of Nursing School
• Required License/Certifications/Registrations Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery)
• Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency)

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred Education and Experience Previous exposure to a medical environment.
• Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations Certification as a MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic computer skills.
• Moderate computer skills required for Telesitter.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Possess compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

Physical Requirements

With or without accommodation. Very Heavy Work: Occasionally exerting greater than 100 lbs - constantly exerting up to 50 lbs. 75-100% of the day may be standing or walking.
