Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Sleep Studies Technician for night shifts. The role supports sleep studies under physician or sleep technologist supervision, performing routine patient assessments and equipment prep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS/CPR card within 30 days of hire or by end of orientation.
• Successful completion of ASTEP certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs and records routine patient assessments.
• Prepares equipment and monitors patient before, during, and after study according to protocol.
• Assists sleep technologist in scoring sleep records and documenting test results.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
• Perform acts within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable certification board.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care per unit/department competencies.
• Evaluate and provide care to achieve desired patient outcomes from newborn to geriatric.
• Abide by HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, team members, and others.

Sleep Studies Technician - Full Time Nights

Essential Responsibilities:

• Performs and records routine patient assessments.
• Prepares equipment and monitors patient before, during, and after study according to protocol.
• Assists sleep technologist in scoring sleep records and documenting test results.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
• Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable certification board.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Required License/Certifications/Registrations: Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
• Successful completion of ASTEP certification within two years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preferred Education and Experience: Previous exposure to a similar environment.
• Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations: none.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Possess compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
• Superb organization skills, follow-through and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements: With or without accommodation.

• Medium Work: Occasionally exerting up to 50 lbs - constantly exerting up to 10 lbs.
• 26-50% of the day may be standing or walking.
