Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Emergency Department during the 11p-11a shift as a 0.9 FTE position.

The PCT will provide patient care under supervision of physicians and nursing staff, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to policies. Responsibilities include delivering care across ages from newborn to geriatric, maintaining PHI privacy, and communicating effectively with the care team and patients.

Qualifications

• Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas OR at least one semester of Nursing School.
• Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery).
• Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency)

Responsibilities

• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of PHI.
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

• Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas OR at least one semester of Nursing School

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

• Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery)
• Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

• Previous exposure to a medical environment.

Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations

• Certification as a MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas
• Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic computer skills. Moderate computer skills required for Telesitter.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Possess compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

• Very Heavy Work: Occasionally exerting greater than 100 lbs - constantly exerting up to 50 lbs. 75-100% of the day may be standing or walking.
