Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham is seeking staff to perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. You will assist patients with ambulation, daily living tasks, and help transfer them safely to vehicles as needed.

You will report vital signs and changes to nursing staff, maintain clean patient rooms, and assist with procedures such as oxygen setup, catheter care, and EKGs. Our hospital system values teamwork and comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 Month (30 days) of hire or transfer date.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ambulation and activities of daily living.
• Report changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms clean and maintain medical equipment.
• Perform technical patient care duties as directed (oxygen setup, catheter care, pulse oximetry, specimen collection, EKGs).
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs/outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
