Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a perioperative registered nurse to provide direct nursing care for patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.

You will follow aseptic technique per AORN/ASPAN standards, evaluate patient responses to treatments, manage pain, and anticipate case-specific needs based on procedures and pathophysiology. Licensure (AL) and ACLS/BLS as stated are required.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire date (ACLS/ALS preferred or required within 6 months).
• Advanced Life Support required within 6 months of hire date.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire date.

Job Description

Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.

• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
• Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient's pain.
• Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Professional licensure at time of hire required.
