Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham seeks a licensed practical nurse to join the 5 South Tower Orthopaedics team. You will provide patient care under supervision, monitor wellbeing, administer medications, and perform basic labs and therapies in a busy clinical setting.

Responsibilities include educating patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge care. Full-time shifts include day or night options at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, with weekend rotation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse licensure required in Alabama.
• BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire.

Job Description

Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.

• Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
• Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
• Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent required.
