Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses and care teams in a hospital setting. The role includes monitoring patients, assisting with daily activities, and performing essential clinical tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• Demonstrated competency in Patient Care Technician I level, 800 hours and 6 months as PCA I.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes.
• Provides constant observation of high‑risk patients.
• Assists with daily living activities and mobility.
• Takes and records vital signs and basic measurements.
• Performs EKGs, POC tests and bladder scanning per hospital standards.
• Phlebotomy in certain locations.
• Assists with treatments and prepares equipment and supplies.
