Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for night shift duties at the Southbridge location. The role supports RNs with patient care tasks, observation, and daily living activities.

A High School diploma or GED and Basic Life Support are required, with English proficiency and basic computer skills essential for communication and patient records. The position may include a signing bonus depending on recruitment outcomes and internal equity.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Maintains patient safety by performing safety checks and following Restraint Policy when needed.
