Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health seeks a Critical Care Tech to support RNs on a busy medical-surgical unit, assisting patients with daily living activities and safety. You will perform phlebotomy, vital signs, EKGs, and point-of-care testing, documenting results and communicating changes to the nursing team.

Strong communication and a commitment to high-quality patient care are essential. Candidates should have PCT training and current BLS; ACLS is preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Patient Care Technician training and active PCT certification required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Successful completion of CPCT-A or equivalent certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transportation).
• Perform phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs and Foley catheter care as directed by RN.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately.
• Reinforce patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and support orientation for new hires.
• Complete annual unit-specific competencies by the due date.
• Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe environment and high quality care.
• Demonstrate effective communication with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
