Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health in Camden, NJ is seeking a Critical Care Tech to support nurses and patients on the Kelemen North and South 9 unit. Under the direction of an RN, you assist with activities of daily living and carry out directed clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, vital signs, EKGs, and catheter care.

This role emphasizes safety, communication with patients and families, and participation in education and performance-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and have an active Patient Care Technician Certification required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transport) and follow standard precautions.
• Perform phlebotomy, monitor vital signs, conduct point-of-care testing and EKGs as directed by RN; document appropriately.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately, maintaining safe patient practices.
• Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
• Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.
• Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.
• Demonstrate effective communication with patients, visitors and coworkers.
• Capable of identifying and communicating changes in patient status.
