Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a PCM construction support engineer to assist in building and testing Power Conversion Modules for the COLUMBIA class submarines, providing hands-on engineering in a shipyard environment. This role supports reliable power distribution, operating on 2nd shift.

Applicants should have a B.S. in Engineering, 5+ years post-graduate experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering required.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance.
• 5+ years post-graduate engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop troubleshooting strategies and write procedures for shipyard execution.
• Support trades and waterfront personnel in installation and testing of PCMs.
• Coordinate with system owners, Ships Test Organization, electrical trades Ships Management and Reactor Plant Contractor Organization to align troubleshooting activities and ship’s schedule.
• Help prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and work instructions.
• Communicate with shipyard personnel to gather information, understand construction needs, and resolve technical questions.
• Learn Electric Boat processes, procedures, and core values.
• Provide inputs for design changes to improve design robustness and maintainability.
