  • Prior internship or co-op in a technical, engineering, or shipyard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop troubleshooting strategies and write procedures for shipyard execution.
  • Support trades and waterfront personnel in the installation and testing of PCMs.
  • Work with system owners, Ships Test Organization, electrical trades Ships Management and Reactor Plant Contractor Organization to ensure alignment across troubleshooting activities and ship's schedule.
  • Help prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and work instructions.
  • Communicate with shipyard personnel to gather information, understand construction needs, and resolve technical questions.
  • Learn Electric Boat processes, procedures, and core values.
  • Provide inputs for design changes to improve design robustness and maintainability.

Overview

D376 is seeking motivated Engineers to support the construction and testing of Power Conversion Modules (PCMs) for COLUMBIA Class submarines. PCMs convert power from the medium voltage propulsion system to supply all AC and DC loads in the ship's power distribution system. This role provides an opportunity for "hands on" work that contributes directly to delivering a power distribution system that operates reliably "the first time, every time" while gaining experience in shipyard operations and electrical power systems in a collaborative engineering environment. This position will be on 2nd shift.

What You Will Do as a PCM construction support engineer
