General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking an Entry‑Level Engineer to support the Integrated Power Systems (IPS) directorate. You will assist in the construction and testing of propulsion and electrical power systems for the Columbia class submarines, gaining hands‑on experience in shipyard operations.

This role emphasizes collaboration, learning our processes, and contributing to continuous improvement with documentation and responsive problem solving.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • 0–5 years post‑graduate engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support trades and waterfront personnel in the construction and testing of IPS equipment
  • Assist in identifying issues on the deck plate and contribute to developing timely solutions
  • Work closely with Waterfront Engineers and IPS component/system owners to ensure alignment across engineering activities
  • Participate in power systems readiness meetings and help verify that construction processes and construction requirements are properly captured
  • Help prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and work instructions
  • Communicate with shipyard personnel to gather information, understand construction needs, and resolve technical questions
  • Learn Electric Boat processes, procedures, and core values
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and supporting follow‑ship enhancements
