Job summary

The St. Charles Park District is hiring a part-time custodian for the Pottawatomie Community Center in St. Charles, IL 60174. This weekend-focused role requires friendly, reliable service and the ability to maintain a safe, clean public facility.

You will clean, set up spaces for rentals, manage supplies, and assist with emergencies. Valid IL driver’s license and First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Ability to perform daily cleaning procedures in a public building.
• Set up and take down rental spaces as needed by clients.
• Pleasant personality conducive to good relations with the public and staff.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.
• Flexible schedule as needed.
• Valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
• DCFS Mandated Reporter and First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior/exterior custodial tasks to keep facility clean and orderly.
• Prepare rooms and gym for programs and rentals.
• Maintain supplies and equipment in a safe, organized manner.
• Monitor and enforce safety and policies; communicate effectively.
• Open/close the facility as needed and assist with emergency procedures.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and report accidents.

Job Summary – About the Role

Deliver high quality services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the district’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.

This position would be predominately weekend work. We are currently recuriting for the following availability: Friday or Saturday night and Sunday mornings.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive, shows initiative, can work independently, is an effective communicator and is reliable and safety minded.

Required

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Strong knowledge and skills needed to perform daily routine cleaning procedures in a public building.
• Ability to set up and take down rental spaces in accordance with the needs of clients.
• A pleasant personality, which is conducive to good relations with the public and fellow employees.
• Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends.
• When necessary be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
• Maintain DCFS Mandated Reporter and First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain certification within 30 days of hiring.

Preferred

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.

Essential Functions of the Position

• Follow all departmental safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of Park District’s safety and risk management program.
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with residents, colleagues, the public, PDRMA and other agencies or organizations as delegated.
• Recommends improvements and efficiencies to better accomplish individual and district goals in the best interests of the St. Charles Park District community.
• Comply with Park District policies and administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, the Pottawatomie Community Cener Supervisor, the PCC Part-time Custodian shall complete all assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees. This position requires extensive knowledge and ability to:
• Perform interior and exterior custodial functions necessary to maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the facility.
• Prepare rooms and gym for programs and rentals.
• Keep supplies and equipment stored neatly and safely.
• Stay alert to detect potential failures in all equipment, hardware and furnishings.
• Maintain orderly, professional and safe workspaces.
• Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Note any needed supplies to supervisor.
• Perform CPR, AED and First Aid as necessary.
• Complete accident reports according to Park District Guidelines.
• Maintain certification in CPR, First Aid and AED.
• Assist with emergency procedures and facility evacuation if necessary.
• Maintain working knowledge of and the ability to enforce and explain Park District procedures, rules and policies.
• Open and close the facility as needed.
