Job summary

Energize Group in San Francisco is seeking a PCB Layout and Interconnect Engineer to own complex PCB layouts and interconnect designs for production-ready electronics, collaborating with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing teams to solve spatial, thermal and electrical challenges.

You’ll create multilayer PCB layouts with Altium Designer, design cable assemblies, and develop flex/ridig-flex circuits for space-constrained robotics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of PCB layout and cable-harness design experience.
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer.
• Experience using Altium Harness for cable and wire-harness design.
• Strong flex and rigid-flex PCB experience.
• Knowledge of high-speed differential signalling, impedance control and power-electronics layouts.
• Experience with 3D ECAD/MCAD integration and routing within mechanically constrained products.
• Strong knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620.
• Ability to succeed in a fast-moving, collaborative product-development environment.
• Authorisation to work in the United States.
• Altium Multi-board and system-level connectivity
• HyperLynx for signal or power-integrity analysis
• PTC Creo
• Schematic capture, firmware, mechanical engineering or testing

Responsibilities

• Create complex, multilayer PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
• Design cable assemblies, wire harnesses and interconnect schematics.
• Develop flex and rigid-flex circuits for space-constrained robotic assemblies.
• Optimise designs for high-speed signalling, impedance control, power electronics, thermal performance and emissions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers on board outlines, connector placement, keep-out zones and 3D harness routing.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles to support reliable, scalable production.
• Generate and manage Altium component footprints and symbols.
• Lead PCB and harness design reviews through release.
• Partner with PCB fabricators, assembly houses and cable-harness suppliers to resolve technical and production issues.

You’ll own complex PCB layouts and interconnect designs, working closely with electrical, mechanical and manufacturing teams to solve challenging spatial, thermal and electrical problems.

Candidates should expect approximately one week of travel per quarter to Salem or Fremont, with occasional extended stays during critical project phases.
