Job summary

Figure, an AI Robotics company in San Jose, seeks an experienced PCB Layout Designer to develop critical hardware for our humanoid.

You will own the PCB layout from placement through production, release fabrication files, and coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and thermal teams while managing external PCB layout contractors.

The role emphasizes Altium proficiency, power-converter layouts, high-speed designs, DFx, and strict rule-based design practices to ensure high yield and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in PCB layout.
• Strong experience with Altium and power-converter layouts.
• Proficient in flex, rigid-flex, and HDI PCB designs.
• Experience with DFx and high-speed/high-voltage designs.
• Solid EE fundamentals and material/stackup selection.

Responsibilities

• Lead PCB layout from concept to production release.
• Prepare and release fabrication/assembly files.
• Run and manage vendor DFx reports.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Thermal teams.
• Oversee external PCB layout contractors.

Job description

Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in San Jose, CA and require in-office collaboration. It’s time to build.

We are looking for an experienced PCB Layout Designer to help us design critical hardware for our Humanoid.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the PCB layout of new and existing designs, from initial placement to production
• Preparation and release of fabrication/assembly files
• Perform and manage vendor DFx reports
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Thermal engineers
• Manage external PCB layout contractors

Requirements:

• 5+ years of industry experience
• Strong experience with Altium
• Strong experience designing for power converters (10W to >1kW)
• Strong experience with flex, rigid flex, and HDI designs
• Strong experience with DFx (high yield designs, designing for ICT/FCT, etc)
• Strong understanding of rule based designs (creepage/clearance, high speed rules, etc)
• Experience proposing and selecting material and stackups
• A good grasp of EE fundamentals

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with high speed designs (>8 GHz) and RF
• Experience with simulation software for power electronics/high speed design (i.e. ANSYS, Hyperlynx, Keysight, etc)
• Experience with high voltage applications (>60V) and compliance requirements
• Experience with exotic PCB technologies (3D mid, IMS, embedded coin/bus-bar, embedded passives, planar transformers, etc)
• Experience with PLM systems

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $150,000 - $250,000 annually.
The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
