Job summary

CScale is hiring a Senior PCB/FPGA Engineer in Palo Alto to own the electrical hardware that drives and reads out our photonic ICs. You’ll design high-speed PCI/FPGA boards, build FPGA-based control and test systems, and bring up optical transceiver hardware operating at multi-gigabaud rates.

This hands-on role sits at the intersection of photonics and electronics. You’ll work with photonics, firmware, and test teams, lead board bring-up, perform SI/PI analysis, and guide vendors through design

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on hardware design experience.
• Experience designing optical transceiver hardware at high baud rates (50+ GBd).
• Proven RF PCB design experience up to 40+ GHz.
• Multiple PCBs from concept to working hardware.
• Production-grade FPGA development and debugging.
• Strong lab skills with high-bandwidth test equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Own custom PCB designs end to end, including schematic capture and bring-up.
• Design high-speed RF boards for optical transceivers.
• Engineer controlled-impedance channels to 50+ GHz.
• Run signal and power integrity analysis and correlate with measurements.
• Develop FPGA designs for transceiver test and control.
• Bring up and debug boards using high-speed test equipment.
• Collaborate with photonics and firmware teams on interfaces.
• Manage PCB vendors and lead design reviews.
