Job summary

EVONA in San Francisco is seeking a hands-on Mixed-Signal Engineer to bridge high-performance photonic front ends and digital processing. You will design mixed-signal schematics and PCBs for high-speed communications hardware, develop ADC/DAC chains, TIAs, drivers and clocking architectures.

You’ll perform signal and power integrity analysis, build precision analog control loops for optical hardware, and own board bring-up, debugging and characterization in the lab.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of mixed-signal hardware development experience.
  • Strong high-speed PCB design experience using Altium, Cadence or similar.
  • Excellent analog fundamentals including noise analysis, TIAs/op-amps, PLLs, clocking and power design.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers and board characterization.
  • Experience interfacing ADCs/DACs with FPGAs.
  • Experience with JESD204, SerDes or similar high-speed interfaces is highly relevant.
  • FPGA development using VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog is a major plus.
  • Space electronics or optical communications experience is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR.

Responsibilities

  • Design mixed-signal schematics and PCBs for high-speed communications hardware.
  • Develop high-speed ADC/DAC chains, TIAs, drivers, bias supplies and clocking architectures.
  • Perform signal and power integrity analysis for multi-GHz analog and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Develop precision analog control loops for optical hardware.
  • Own board bring-up, debugging and characterization in the lab.
  • Verify noise, bandwidth and linearity against system-level performance requirements.
  • Interface high-speed data converters with FPGAs.
  • Collaborate on or directly develop RTL for data capture, calibration and real-time control.
  • Design for reliability, derating and demanding environmental conditions.
