Job summary

Benchmark is seeking an Assembly Technician in Winona, MN to assemble and modify electronic components, subassemblies, and systems. You will follow prints and work instructions and assist other assemblers as needed.

The role emphasizes reading schematics, quality checks, tool use, and collaborative teamwork in a manufacturing environment. It is a safety-sensitive position with potential overtime and opportunities to learn and grow within Benchmark.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 1+ years of experience in hardware and/or simple optics assembly activities.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Ability to use hand tools and related devices to manufacture PCBs and other electronic assemblies.
• Ability to learn and master all PCB assembly tasks assigned.
• Ability to identify electronic components.
• Ability to identify solder non-conformances and correct them.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Willingness to cross-train in other areas.

Responsibilities

• Reads and follows assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in PCB manufacturing.
• Identify workmanship and material defects; suggest basic changes to improve operations.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment while performing tasks with care and attention to detail.
• Assemble electronic components, assemblies, and modules from samples, visual aids, wiring lists, and process sheets.
• Maintain accurate material control within the work area.
• Inspect own work in the immediate working unit.
• Provide timely feedback to other operations, management, and support engineering as appropriate.
• Follow and maintain accurate process documentation.
• Assemble PCBs of intermediate complexity.
• Use a variety of tools to perform tasks.
• Serve as a mentor to lesser skilled employees.
