Networking Technologies + Support in Midlothian, Virginia is seeking a PC/Bench/Surplus Technician to evaluate incoming desktop equipment for surplus or redeployment. You will perform diagnostic testing, minor hardware repairs, and help reduce unnecessary replacements while keeping accurate inventory and asset handling records.

The role requires hands-on hardware skills, experience with Windows desktops, and a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience supporting Windows 10/11/365 desktop and laptop PCs.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and performing hardware replacements.
• Experience installing software, patches, and updates on desktops, laptops, and servers.
• Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, and printer problems.
• Customer service experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and evaluate PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals for surplus or return.
• Determine if equipment is functional, repairable, reusable, or surplus.
• Perform minor hardware repairs and component replacements when appropriate.
• Test repaired/refurbished equipment for redeployment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of disposition, repairs, and inventory status.
• Ensure secure handling of hard drives and data-bearing devices.
• Escalate cases requiring advanced repair or evaluation.

NOW HIRING PC/Bench/Surplus Technician

The PC/Bench/Surplus Technician will evaluate desktop technology entering the storeroom and surplus process to identify equipment that can be repaired, refurbished, redeployed, or returned to service. The technician will perform diagnostic testing and minor hardware repairs, determine equipment viability, and help reduce unnecessary equipment replacement and surplus while maintaining accurate inventory and asset handling processes.

Responsibilities Include:

• Inspect and evaluate PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals received for surplus or return.
• Determine whether equipment is functional, repairable, reusable, or appropriate for final surplus.
• Perform minor hardware repairs and component replacement when economically and operationally appropriate.
• Test repaired/refurbished equipment to ensure it is suitable for redeployment.
• Identify usable equipment that may have been incorrectly designated for surplus and return it to available inventory.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment disposition, repairs, and inventory status.
• Ensure appropriate handling and security of hard drives and other data-bearing devices.
• Escalate equipment requiring advanced technical repair or evaluation when appropriate.

Skills Required:

• CompTIA A+ (preferred)
• 3+ years' experience supporting Windows10/Win11/365 desktop/laptop PCs.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs.
• Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, Servers
• Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems.
• Customer Service Experience a must!

Job Type: Full time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Benefits:Start on Day 91 of employment

Schedule: M-F 7am-4pm or 8am - 5pm
