Job summary

  • Make overhead paging announcements when requested.
  • Respond to emergency codes and announcements according to hospital procedures.
  • Assist with registering patients and other duties as assigned.

Description
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate the hospital's PBX telephone console and communication system
  • Provide basic information to callers, visitors, and patients
  • Acts in a professional manner at all times and knowledgeable of all departments in the facility
  • Respond to emergency codes and announcements (such as Code Blue, fire alarms, or disaster alerts) according to hospital procedures
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized and flexible in stressful situations
  • Excellent customer service skills and performs other duties as assigned
  • Answer incoming calls to the hospital in a professional manner
  • Transfer calls to the appropriate departments, patient rooms, physicians, nurses, or staff members
  • Make overhead paging announcements when requested
  • Assist with other duties such as registering patients, etc.

Regulatory Requirements
  • Completes annual educational requirements within the assigned time frame
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and Joint Commission regulations related to their department and, as appropriate, to the hospital
