Job summary

TFI International Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Payroll Team Lead to support complex multi-state payroll operations and act as a subject matter expert for the payroll team.

You will partner with leadership to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, mentor Coordinators, and lead process improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• CPP certification preferred.
• 5+ years of complex multi-state payroll experience.
• Experience with ADP Vantage.
• Advanced Excel skills with reporting and pivot tables.
• Strong payroll compliance knowledge across wage & hour regulations.
• Experience supporting multiple employee groups and entities.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payrolls across multiple entities and employee groups.
• Serve as a payroll subject matter expert and support Payroll Coordinators with complex payroll issues and escalations.
• Audit payroll transactions, employee data changes, reports, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Analyze payroll data and prepare reports to support business and operational needs.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, inquiries, and processing issues.
• Partner with Payroll leadership to identify and implement process improvements.
• Support payroll documentation, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Provide leadership support and backup coverage across the payroll team as needed.
• Contribute to payroll projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

We're seeking a payroll professional who can confidently navigate complex payroll issues, support team success, and deliver accurate results in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• CPP certification preferred
• 5+ years of complex multi-state payroll experience
• Strong ADP payroll system experience; ADP Vantage preferred
• Advanced Excel skills, including reporting, pivot tables, and data analysis
• Strong understanding of payroll processing, compliance, and wage & hour regulations
• Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple employee groups and entities
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Experience using Microsoft Copilot or AI tools to improve productivity is a plus
