Job summary

Intuit is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Operations People Manager to lead a high-performing team of payroll tax experts. You will drive end-to-end resolution of notices, corrections, amendments, and Pay & File across multiple states, ensuring quality and timely outcomes.

You will coach and develop staff, maintain SLA discipline in a high-volume environment, and partner with cross-functional teams to translate regulatory updates into actionable processes and staff development plans.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of people management experience in a payroll tax operations or related service environment.
• 5+ years hands-on payroll tax experience with a focus on notice resolution, amended return preparation, and payroll error correction across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategy into a team operating plan and ensure SLA compliance across all active cases.
• Own delivery and quality outcomes, reducing backlogs and ensuring timely notices, corrections, and amendments.
• Lead regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
• Serve as final escalation for complex IRS/state notices and inquiries with effective resolution.
• Drive lean management practices to surface and solve problems in real time.
• Partner with the team to monitor WIP, identify blockers, and enforce workflows to meet deadlines.
• Own SOP and Knowledge Base governance and translate regulatory updates into team briefings.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, and skills calibration for new team members.
• Continuously assess and improve processes to remove non-value-added work.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer experiences in a high-volume environment.
