Job summary

Intuit seeks a seasoned People Manager to lead Payroll Tax Operations (PTO) in Austin. You will guide a high-performing team of payroll tax experts across notices, corrections, amendments, and pay & file, driving quality, SLA adherence, and customer outcomes in a high-volume environment.

You will coach and develop talent, own processes, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tax resolutions and compliant filings across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of people management in payroll tax operations or related service environment.
• 5+ years hands-on payroll tax experience with notice resolution, amendments, and corrections across multiple states.
• Experience resolving complex IRS/state correspondence including penalties and delinquency notices.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states, incl. complex local rules.

Responsibilities

• Translate PTO vision into a team strategy and operating plan.
• Own delivery and quality outcomes; ensure SLA compliance and backlog reduction.
• Lead regular coaching, performance discussions, and career development.
• Serve as final escalation point for IRS/state notices and audits with resolution strategies.
• Drive lean management practices (Daily Huddles, WIP reviews, performance boards).
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; enforce workflows to meet deadlines.
• Own SOP/KB governance; translate regulatory updates into team briefs and revisions.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, and succession planning.
• Continuously improve processes within the team scope.
