Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking a Payroll Consultant in Goodlettsville, TN. The role handles tax calculation, tax notices, and multi-state payroll compliance on a contract basis (4-6 months with possible extensions).

The pay rate ranges from $45 to $80 per hour, depending on experience, with standard full-time hours Monday through Friday. Required are 3+ years of payroll tax experience, strong Excel/Office skills, and knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxes; CPP preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll tax calculation experience in a high-volume, multi-state environment.
• CPP preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal, state, and local payroll taxes and government regulations.
• Experience researching and resolving tax notices.
• Experience preparing and filing manual and amended tax returns.
• ADP SmartCompliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day payroll tax operations including tax notices, tax research, and manual filings.
• Ensure timely payment and filing of all withheld taxes.
• Research and resolve tax notices including SUI rates and wage base limits.
• Assist with validation and balancing of W-2 forms and related reports.
• Issue W-2c's when needed and coordinate amendments.
• Perform daily/weekly audits to ensure tax setup accuracy by residence/work location.
• Balance tax reports with payroll data to ensure accuracy.
• Review payroll adjustments to keep tax history up to date.
• Monitor local, state, and federal changes to maintain compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION PAYROLL CONSULTANT: DETAILS

Title: Payroll Consultant

Location: Goodlettsville TN

Start Date: ASAP

Pay Rate: $45-80/hour (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday - Friday | 8a-5pm | 40 hours per week

Type: Contract (4-6 months with possible extensions)

REQUIREMENTS: PAYROLL CONSULTANT

• 3+ years of payroll tax calculation experience and filing experience in a high volume, multi state environment.
• CPP preferred
• Must have thorough knowledge of Federal, state, and local payroll taxes and relevant government regulations.
• Proficient in the use of office technologies (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience researching and resolving tax notices
• Experience preparing and filing manual and amended tax returns
• ADP SmartCompliance experience
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
• Knowledge of quarterly and year-end payroll tax processes

RESPONSIBILITIES: PAYROLL CONSULTANT

• Manage day-to-day operational work, including tax notice resolution, tax research, manual tax filings, amended returns, reconciliations, and general payroll tax compliance activities
• Ensure compliance of all taxes withheld are paid and filed timely
• Work to research and resolve tax notices in a timely manner including SUI rates and wage base limits
• Assists with the validation and balancing of W-2 forms and the reconciliation of the W-2 management reports.
• Responsible for the issuance of W2c's when needed and ensuring any amendment requests are submitted to CTS.
• Performs daily and weekly audits to validate the accuracy of the tax set up based on residence and work locations.
• Balances tax reports with the payroll files to ensure both are accurate.
• Enter and review adjustments processed with the payroll to ensure tax history updates are correct.
• Audit and review local, state, and federal changes on a continuous basis to ensure compliance.
