Job summary

Schindler Group in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst to act as the subject matter expert for payroll tax, ensuring accurate employee tax setups, timely remittance, and compliant filings throughout the year.

You will process payroll in SAP, collaborate with vendors and auditors, manage year-end W-2s, and lead payroll tax projects with cross-functional teams. Expertise in SAP or ADP GlobalView, advanced Excel, and multi-state tax rules is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of work experience in payroll.
  • Experience with SAP and/or ADP GlobalView.
  • Advanced Excel formula knowledge.
  • Payroll Tax experience.
  • Progressive Payroll and/or Payroll Tax experience.
  • High Volume Payroll, Multi-State Locals and SIT Reciprocity experience.
  • Proven customer service skills while maintaining a confidential work environment.
  • Ability to interface with and satisfy the needs of diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as POC for payroll tax escalations and quarterly/annual reports.
  • Support broader payroll team activities and drive a positive team culture.

Payroll Tax Analyst
Your main responsibilities
  • Represent Payroll as SME in the payroll tax function. Ensure employee tax setups, tax remittance and filing is accurate, timely and compliant. Accountable to see adjustments entered in SAP for all employees tax timely and accurately throughout the year and any associated amended returns filled in accordance. Performs monthly and quarterly audits on system to ensure data integrity and resolves any discrepancies that would negatively impact company tax returns.
  • Responsible for processing assigned payroll through the SAP system and ensuring accurate and timely running of the payroll. Ensure attention to detail and accuracy of payroll records, excellent problem solving/judgment skills for various employee inquiries and issues. Process general ledger entries, reconcile payroll-related general ledger and prepare reports or statements summarizing payroll-related accounts. May interface with third-party payroll vendors. Inputs changes, which may include changes to employees or employee statuses, exemptions or withholdings, or bank information.
  • Conducts research, analysis and necessary reconciliation to respond to and resolve agency related payroll tax amendments. Tracks, documents and communicates changes in trends and/or changes in payroll tax legislation and policy. Primary point of contact for prior tax year requests, research and initiatives as needed. Ensure proper payroll reporting and compliance. Provide Tier III support for Payroll escalations coordinating with internal partners and external vendors as needed. Collaborate with other departments on projects. Support and be single point of contact for audits (internal and external).
  • Manages the relationship between Schindler tax vendor and regulatory authorities to ensure proper handling of all tax obligations and timely resolution of agency notices. Works with Schindler Mobility and Third Party Partners to ensure proper taxation of inbound and outbound expatriate employees. Reviews and signs off on all Quarter Balancing & Year End processes to ensure accurate and timely remittance and filings. Approves AP requests and returns for any tax payment. Establishes all processes, procedures and internal controls are adhered to. Assist with travel and expense analytics.
  • Partner with key stakeholders in the successful execution of payroll tax projects, process improvements and updates. Serve as POC for payroll tax escalations, finance and audit requests including quarterly and annual reports, reconciliation or payroll tax account balances, preparation of W2s and all other related requirements as needed. Oversees EOY W2 preparation, communication and related activities. Interact with employees via phone, email and teams for problem resolution.
  • Works in partnership with Payroll Leaders and Team in support of broader Payroll Team activities and initiatives as needed, including supporting ticket resolution and payroll process functions. Additionally, in this role incumbent is actively engaged in establishing and maintaining a positive organizational culture through Team collaboration and engagement. Serves as peer mentor, facilitating related updates and team training related to Payroll Tax subject matters.
  • Responsible for the payroll accounting within the SAP finance system. Generate the GL from the payroll system, validate and post payroll batches. Reconcile the payroll database with bank statements. Reconcile the trial balance and balance sheet items related to payroll and benefits accounts monthly prior to finance book closing. Provide monthly reconciliation of all payroll P&L postings and validate the expenses between the ADP GL and finance system. Review and reconcile the vacation accruals in the payroll system vs the finance system. Provide justification to Finance on the increase / decrease in the P&L accounts.
